abortion care

did you know the Act government funds free abortion care for residents? They do!

did you know you can access that through me? *

The wonderful humans at women’s health matters and I have finally sorted through the paperwork, (it’s me, hi, I, the problem it’s me) and I’m on boarded back again with the ACT government program.

I was one of two GPs who first piloted this program starting in 2024. It’s been brilliant to watch it slowly expand. Ideally choices around pregnancy should be just that, choices, free from stigma and obstacles.

The funding means I am able to offer support for unplanned pregnancy in terms of non directional counselling, to help you work out what you want to do.

I can support you to continue your pregnancy if you decide to do so, or I can help you have a medical abortion, or refer you for a surgical abortion, depending on your decision. We also have funding if you would like to take up the option for long acting reversal contraction following your procedure – such as a implanon, a mirena or a copper iud.

You do not need to be an existing patient. You also do not require a Medicare card. All you need is proof of residency in the ACT. All care is covered, with no out of pocket costs for ACT residents.

If you are not an ACT resident care is still available and there are options we can discuss, noting that there are out of pocket costs. I endeavour to keep these as low as possible, and you can find these discussed in the header under fees.

If you’re looking for other available providers who might be closer to you – there’s a list here.

to those who’ve asked to see me for care and I’ve had to pass on to other providers because paperwork is my natural enemy – I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get this sorted. Thank you for your patience.

and my thanks to women’s health matters and especially Tabitha for their enduring advocacy and passion for reproductive health care. Long may it continue.

*You might not because I’ve previously kept that a bit quiet, because I’ve had a few threats. Decided I don’t care anymore seeing as we had finally won so many hard fought victories, but apparently it’s an election issue again. No.

you threaten me though, I’ll block you and involve the police. Abortion is healthcare, end of story.
